Pasir Ris town sits on the eastern part of Singapore, and is known for its relaxing, laid-back vibe. The name Pasir Ris, which literally means ‘White Sand’ in Malay, refers to the long stretch of white sandy beach that lines Singapore’s north-east coast. With the sea so near, it’s no wonder that Pasir Ris makes a good getaway from city life!

As one of the towns selected for HDB’s Remaking Our Heartland initiative, Pasir Ris will undergo a transformation to realise its vision as an urban sanctuary. The focus will be on rejuvenating park spaces, creating new homes close to parks, activating new spaces for the community, and enhancing the walking and cycling experience in the town.

White Sands mall and the Pasir Ris MRT Station will soon have new neighbours. As part of ROH, this area is planned to be a Town Centre with greenery extending into the urban environment. A mixed commercial-residential development, integrated transport hub, and Town Plaza with a heritage garden are some of the things that residents can look forward to.

In Pasir Ris, it is common to see residents walk and cycle around, because of the convenience offered by an intra-town cycling path network. In the years to come, residents can expect to see the arterial connections along Pasir Ris Drive 1 and 3 transform into Nature Ways, connecting areas of high biodiversity to urban communities. Specific trees and shrubs will be planted to facilitate the movement of fauna, such as birds and butterflies, between green spaces.

There’s also great news for aspiring Pasir Ris residents, because new housing developments will be built right next to Pasir Ris Park! The goal is to create a park-like living experience, and offer seamless connection to the Town Centre via a Central Greenway, which comprises ground-level and elevated cycling and walking paths.
